Why I Started a Beekeeping Blog: Sharing the Buzz from Hive to Home

Welcome to ReynWicks, where the hum of bees, the glow of handmade candles, and the heart of homesteading come together. Beekeeping has become one of the most meaningful parts of my life, and this blog gives me the space to share that passion with you. Whether you’re a beginner beekeeper, a honey lover, or simply curious about life inside the hive, you’re in the right place.

🐝 Why Beekeeping Matters

Beekeeping is more than a hobby—it’s a commitment to sustainability, pollinator protection, and hands-on learning. At ReynWicks on Little Creek Farm, I care for my own hives and harvest both raw honey and pure beeswax, which I use in candles, natural skincare, and herbal remedies. Every season teaches something new, and through this blog, I document those lessons so others can learn, grow, and connect with their own love for the bees.

✍️ Why I Started a Beekeeping Blog

When I first stepped into the world of beekeeping, I searched for clear, relatable advice. While some resources helped, many left me with questions. That inspired me to start writing—from my perspective as a certified beekeeper, candlemaker, and herbalist living the homestead lifestyle.

I wanted to create a space that felt approachable, practical, and real. This blog reflects the daily rhythms of life with bees—through successes, challenges, and those magical moments when everything just clicks.

🍯 What You’ll Find on the ReynWicks Beekeeping Blog

Here on the blog, I share:

  • Seasonal beekeeping tasks (tailored to the Southeast/NC climate)

  • Tips for new beekeepers—including gear, hive inspections, and bee behavior

  • Natural solutions for hive health and pest management

  • Honey harvesting techniques and ways to use raw honey

  • How I make and use beeswax in candles, balms, and herbal remedies

  • Personal reflections on homesteading and living close to the land

Every post is written to guide, inspire, and support both beginner and seasoned beekeepers.

🌼 Why It Matters

Bees are vital—not just for honey, but for our entire food system. Through beekeeping blogs like ReynWicks, more people can learn how to care for these incredible pollinators responsibly and naturally. By sharing what works, what doesn’t, and what surprises me along the way, I hope to make beekeeping more accessible and less intimidating.

Plus, there’s something powerful about stepping outside, opening a hive, and witnessing nature at work. This blog helps me capture that experience—and pass it on to others.

🛒 Explore the Buzz Beyond the Blog

Alongside the blog, I offer hand-poured beeswax candles, raw local honey, and natural wellness products made right here on the farm. These items reflect the heart of ReynWicks—craftsmanship, connection, and care for the earth.
